Connecticut Principals and Teachers

Spread the word and encourage your students to start thinking creatively about college and their future. Get your whole school involved!

Students could win a $1,000 or $500 CHET 529 College Savings Account and your school could win $500!

All Connecticut students in grades K-8 are eligible to enter for a chance to win.

  • $26,000 in CHET college savings account contributions will be awarded
  • 48 student winners (K - 8th grade) statewide from all eight counties
  • One school in each county could win $500 for high student percentage participation

How to Enter:

Have your student’s create an original work. Need inspiration? Take a look at last year’s winning entries.

Grades K-3
Create an original drawing illustrating, “What do I want to do after I go to college?”

Grades 4-8
Write an original essay answering the question, “How will I change the world after I go to college?”

Follow these three easy steps to enter:

  1. Download and print the Competition Permission Slip.

  2. Send the Permission Slip home with students for parents to complete and return.

  3. Mail student entries with the Permission Slips by March 29, 2019 to:

Mailed entries must be postmarked by March 29, 2019 and received by April 3, 2019.

School Prizes

Don't forget - the school in each county with the greatest percentage of student participation will receive $500. A minimum of 50 entries must be submitted from the school to be considered eligible for the prize.

Together, we can encourage students to think about their future dreams, and families to think about the importance of saving for college early to help make those dreams come true.
