Past Recipients

Since 2013, CHET has awarded over $3 million in scholarships to Connecticut students, ranging from sixth grade to seniors in high school.

If you were a prior-year recipient, find your scholarship year below to learn more about any action needed.

Fall 2018 Scholarship (2018-2019 School Year)

12th grade scholarship recipients

If you chose to defer school for a year and now plan to use your CHET Advance Scholarship funds for the upcoming fall 2020 semester, you must log in to your ISTS account and complete the disbursement form by the deadline of June 25, 2020. If you have questions or need assistance call (855)-670-ISTS (4787) or email contactus@applyists.com.

In August 2020, ISTS will issue a check for $2,500, made out to your college of choice, and send it to your home address. You can then use the check to pay the school directly. Scholarship funds must be used by September 30, 2020.

9th grade scholarship recipients

All 9th grade recipients from the fall 2018 CHET Advance Scholarship are eligible for up to $2,500 in scholarship funds. The Connecticut State treasurer's office held the initial $2,000 scholarship on behalf of the recipients. CHET is also providing the opportunity for an additional $500 match for a total scholarship of $2,500. In order to receive the additional $500 you must contribute at least $500 to your own CHET account by May of the student's senior year of high school. CHET and ISTS will contact you during the spring of the student’s senior year via the email address used to apply for the scholarship. Please ensure a valid email address is on file with ISTS, and do not opt-out of email communications from ISTS to ensure you continue to receive important scholarship related information. Fall 2017 Scholarship (2017-2018 School Year)

12th grade scholarship recipients

In the fall of 2017 100 high school seniors were awarded a $2,500 CHET Advance Scholarship. Recipients had until September 30, 2019 to claim the award. NOTE: Recipients who did not claim their award by September 30, 2019 forfeited the scholarship.

9th grade scholarship recipients

All 9th grade recipients from the fall 2017 CHET Advance Scholarship are eligible for up to $2,500 in scholarship funds. The Connecticut State treasurer's office is holding the initial $2,000 scholarship on behalf of the recipients. CHET is also providing the opportunity for an additional $500 match for a total scholarship of $2,500. In order to receive the additional $500 you must contribute at least $500 to your own CHET account by May of the student's senior year of high school. CHET and ISTS will contact all recipients during the spring of the student’s senior year via the email address used to apply for the scholarship. Fall 2016 Scholarship (2016-2017 School Year)

In the fall of 2016 100 high school seniors were awarded a $2,500 CHET Advance Scholarship. Recipients had until September 30, 2018 to claim the award. NOTE: Recipients who did not claim their award by September 30, 2018 forfeited the scholarship.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2020 DISBURSEMENTS**

9th grade scholarship recipients

All 9th grade recipients from the fall 2016 CHET Advance Scholarship are now eligible to claim their scholarship funds. The Connecticut State treasurer's office held the initial $2,000 scholarship on behalf of the recipients. CHET is also providing the opportunity for an additional $500 match for a total scholarship of $2,500. In order to receive the additional $500, at least $500 must be contributed by May 31, 2020 to an individual CHET account set up for the student/recipient/beneficiary.

In April 2020, ISTS and CHET sent all recipients email/mailed communications with instructions for completing the scholarship distribution form. Please click here to read more. In order to receive the scholarship funds, all recipients are required to log-in to their ISTS CHET Advance Scholarship account (https://aim.applyists.net) and complete the scholarship disbursement form.

The deadline for completing the disbursement form is JUNE 25, 2020 in order to receive the funds for the fall 2020 semester. Scholarship checks will be mailed in early August. The check will be made out to the student’s specified school and sent to their home address on record.


Fall 2015 Scholarship (2015-2016 School Year)

12th grade scholarship recipients

In the fall of 2015 100 high school seniors were awarded a $2,500 CHET Advance Scholarship. Recipients had until September 30, 2017 to claim the award. NOTE: Recipients who did not claim their award by September 30, 2017 forfeited the scholarship.

9th grade scholarship recipients

All recipients who were in 9th grade and were awarded the CHET Advance Scholarship in the fall of 2015 are eligible for up to $2,500 in scholarship funds. The Connecticut State treasurer's office held the initial $2,000 scholarships on behalf of the recipients. CHET also provided the opportunity for an additional $500 match for a total scholarship of $2,500. In order to have received the additional $500 the recipient’s family had to contribute at least $500 in their individual CHET account by May 31, 2019.

During the spring of 2019, ISTS sent an email with instructions for completing the scholarship distribution form. Recipients who completed the disbursement form received their scholarship check for either $2,000 or $2,500 depending on qualifying individual CHET savings, in August 2019. Checks were made out to the specified college and sent to the specified home address.

Spring 2014 Scholarship (2013-2014 School Year)

11th grade scholarship recipients

In the spring of 2014 100 high school juniors were awarded a $2,500 CHET Advance Scholarship. Recipients had until September 30, 2016 to claim the award. NOTE: recipients who did not claim their award by September 30, 2016 forfeited the scholarship.

**IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR 2020 DISBURSEMENTS**

6th grade scholarship recipients

All recipients who were in 6th grade and received the CHET Advance Scholarship in the spring of 2014 are now eligible to claim their scholarship funds. The Connecticut State treasurer’s office held the initial $2,000 scholarship on behalf of the recipients, either in a separate entity account if the recipient’s family chose to set up, or in the general scholarship fund. CHET is also providing the opportunity for an additional $500 match for a total possible scholarship of $2,500. In order to receive the additional $500, at least $500 must have been, or must be, contributed by May 31, 2020 to an individual CHET account set up for the student/recipient/beneficiary.

In the fall of 2013, 200 high school seniors were awarded a $2,500 CHET Advance Scholarship. Recipients had until September 30, 2015 to claim the award. NOTE: Recipients who did not claim their award by September 30, 2015 forfeited the scholarship.



State Treasurer Shawn T. Wooden, as Trustee of the Connecticut Higher Education Trust (CHET), is the sponsor of the CHET Advance Scholarship.

CHET Advance Scholarship is funded by TIAA Tuition Financing, Inc. and The Hartford, plan managers for CHET Direct-Sold and CHET Advisor-Sold programs respectively; no state funds or CHET account participant fees are used for awards. International Scholarship and Tuition Services, which has more than 25 years of scholarship administration experience, manages the application process with oversight from TIAA and the State Treasurer’s Office.

CHET Advance
